Supplication by the Living and Self-Sustaining Names

“O Allah, all praise is due to You, You are the Giver of blessings, there is no god but You. You are the Majestic and Generous Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Living and the Self-Sustaining. I ask You by making these names of Yours my intercessors!” (Upon hearing this prayer) the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: “Do you know what this man is using as a means of supplication?” “Allah and His Messenger know best.” “I swear by Him in Whose hand is my soul, he supplicated to Allah with His Greatest Name. That Greatest Name by which, if invoked, Allah answers, and if asked, He grants.” (Tirmidhi, Da’avat 109 (3538), Abu Dawud, Salat 368, (1495), Nasai, Sehv 57, (3, 52))
