Prayers to be Recited on Various Occasions

From the valuable work 'Prayers and Invocations' by Mahmut Sami Ramazanoğlu - 'Prayer to be Recited at Sea' part

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O Allah, O Most High, O Most Majestic, O Most Forbearing, O Most All-Knowing, You are my Lord, Your knowledge suffices me. What a wonderful Lord is my Lord, what a wonderful support is my Lord who suffices me. You help whom You wish, You are the Mighty and the Merciful. We ask You to protect us from doubts, suspicions, and anxieties that arise in the hearts due to the investigation of the unseen, in our actions, stillness, words, intentions, and thoughts. Indeed, “those who believed were put to the test and suffered a severe affliction. And then the hypocrites and those with sickness in their hearts (weakness of faith) said, ‘Indeed, Allah and His Messenger have given us only empty promises!’” (Al-Ahzab, 11-12) Make us steadfast and help us. Just as You made the sea subservient to Moses (peace be upon him), so too make this sea subservient to us. Just as You made the fire subservient to Abraham (peace be upon him), the mountains and iron subservient to David (peace be upon him), and the wind, the devils, the jinn, and mankind subservient to Solomon (peace be upon him), so too make subservient to us all the seas that belong to You in the heavens and the earth, in the kingdom and the dominion, the seas of this world and the Hereafter. Make all things subservient to us, O You in Whose hand is the dominion of all things! (Three times: Kaf-ha-ya-ayn-sad). Ha-mim-ayn-sin-kaf. Help us, for surely You are the best of helpers. Grant us victory, for surely You are the best of granters. Forgive us, for surely You are the best of forgivers. Have mercy on us, for surely You are the best of merciful. Provide us with sustenance, for surely You are the best of providers. Guide us and deliver us from the hands of the wrongdoers. Grant us a pleasant wind as You have knowledge. Spread it over us from Your treasuries of mercy, and with it, we shall find guidance. May You carry us with the utmost grace and safety in religion, in this world, and in the Hereafter. Surely You are capable of all things. O Allah, make our affairs easy, grant our hearts and bodies comfort, safety, and well-being in our religion and in this world. Be our protector, guardian, and helper, whether we are traveling or at home. We entrust our families to You. (Three times: Blind/Make) Blind/Make the faces of our enemies, make them ugly where they are, and transform them into the likeness of animals so that they cannot find a way to come against us. “If We had willed, We could have blinded their eyes completely. Then they would have rushed to find the right path, but how could they see? If We had willed, We could have changed their forms where they were, so that they would have no power to go forward or backward!” (Yasin, 66-67) “By the Qur’an, full of wisdom, you are indeed one of the messengers. You are on the straight path. It has been revealed by Allah, the Exalted, the Most Merciful, to warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, and who themselves remain in heedlessness. Indeed, most of them deserve punishment, because they do not believe. We have placed shackles on their necks, and those shackles reach up to their chins, so their heads are held high. We have placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, and We have covered them, so they cannot see.” (Yasin, 1-9) (Three times: May their faces be blackened.) “All faces have bowed down to Allah, the Living, the All-Powerful. But the one burdened with injustice has truly become wretched.” (Taha, 111) Taha, Ta-sin-mim, Ha-mim-ayn-sin-kaf. “He has released the two seas to meet, but between them is a barrier; they do not mix.” (Ar-Rahman, 19-20) (Seven times: Ha-mim) The matter has become heated, help has come, and now they will not be helped against us. “Ha. Mim. This Book has been sent down by Allah, the All-Powerful, the All-Knowing, the Forgiver of sin, the Accepter of repentance, the Severe in punishment, the Possessor of grace. There is no god but Him, and to Him is the return.” (Al-Mu’min, 1-3) Bismillah is our door; Tabarakah is our walls; Yasin is our ceiling. Kaf-ha-ya-ayn-sad, that is sufficient for us; Ha-mim-ayn-sin-kaf, that is our protection. (Three times:) “…Allah is sufficient for you against them. He is the Hearing, the Knowing.” (Al-Baqara, 137) The veil of the Throne has been cast over us, the eye of Allah is watching over us, no one can overpower us by the power of Allah. Allah is with me. “Allah has encompassed them from behind. Indeed, it is the glorious Qur’an, which is in the Preserved Tablet (Al-Buruj, 20-22) “…Allah is the best protector. He is the most merciful of those who show mercy.” (Yusuf, 64) “Indeed, my Protector is Allah, Who revealed the Book. And He is the Watcher over all His righteous servants.” (Al-A'raf, 196) (Three times:) “And if they turn away, then say: ‘Allah is sufficient for me. There is no god but Him. And I put my trust in Him. And He is the Lord of the Throne.’” (At-Tawbah, 129) (Three times:) In the name of Allah, by whose name nothing in the heavens or on earth can cause harm. And He is the Hearer and the Knower of all things. (Abu Dawud, Adab, 101/5088) Power and strength belong only to Allah, the Exalted and Majestic. May Allah send His abundant and complete blessings and peace upon our Master Muhammad, his family, and his companions! All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. O Allah, O Light, O Truth, O Helper, surround me with Your light, teach me from Your knowledge, make me acquainted with Your secrets, let me hear what comes from You, be my seeing eye. Surely You are capable of all things.
